At Alaska Logistics, we usually have positions open between March - October every year. We offer both seasonal and permanent employment. All of our positions require flexible working hours with possible overtime and weekends during barge deadlines.

Mariner (Captains and Mates):
Operates tugs and landing crafts with barges, safety conscious, always considers coastguard and environmental regulation, assists in maintenance and repair, operates in both deep and shallow water.
Qualifications: 200 or greater ton license with towing endorsement, experience in the Bering Sea and Yukon/Kuskokwim preferred, computer literate preferred.
Mariner (Engineers and Deckhands):
Works lines, assist captains and mates, cook, clean, assist operations with paperwork and equipment that goes on and off the vessels, assist with loading, lashing, keep up on marine equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:: licensed mariner, experience in the Bering Sea and Yukon/Kuskokwim preferred, computer literate preferred.
Forklift (Equipment) Operator:
Forklift operation, barge and landing craft work, loading and off-loading freight, port and village work, other labor.
Qualifications: forklift certified (desired) with previous experience, can lift up to 50 lbs if needed, ability to travel on short notice, and a desire to work lots of overtime during the busy season March to October.
Operations Specialist (Admin and Field):
Safety and compliance, freight tracking and distribution organizer, customer service, assistance in organizing and planning barge and landing craft loads, paperwork and email, communicates with government entities, assist in all facets of the business.
Qualifications: college degree required (minimum 2yr Degree); access database experience desired (not required); computer literate; can lift up to 50 lbs if needed; ability to travel on short notice; versatile; not afraid to take on tasks; not afraid to ask questions if less familiar with construction, project management and business administration experience desired.
Repair and maintenance of forklifts, tugs, landing crafts, and other equipment.
Qualifications: applicable vocational training preferred, marine mechanical experience is a plus, proactive personality, can lift up to 50 lbs if needed.
Receiving, small forklift operators, gatehouse attendant, data entry into a company-specific database.
Qualifications: familiarity with Access database is a plus, attention to detail, prior experience working at a marine freight carrier (desired), can lift up to 50 lbs if needed (not required).
Working directly with the general manager and upper management to establish tariffs, insurance related documentation, prepare various access database reports, assist general manager with freight distribution charts, barge schedule and many other logistics. This is a permanent position with a benefits package and competitive salary.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in logistics, construction or other related field, at least 2 years of experience working in a freight transportation company (desired) or other transportation management experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills, intermediate Access database user.
Heavy Machinery Diesel Mechanic:
Applicants should have experience with forklifts, off-road machinery, and Power Train/hydraulic systems. This position requires flexibility and travel to Western Alaska.
